
GMP Cell Manufacturing Facility
The UW GMP Cell Manufacturing Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility embedded in the UW Hospital complex offering Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for cell and tissue processing. It is ISO 7 class facility with an ISO 8 de-gowning area which also includes a storage area that houses freezer and refrigerators. The main GMP lab is fully equipped with biosafety cabinets, numerous incubators, centrifuges, automated cell counter and a variety of other large and small equipment. All equipment along with the temperature and humidity in the laboratory is continuously monitored by a validated Reese Centron® monitoring system. There is dedicated space for cell and product storage along with liquid nitrogen that is also continuously monitored. The facility is ideally suited for production of GMP or “351” products that are more than minimally manipulated and held under Investigational New Drug status with the FDA.
